Zip over to Novel Novice (where I’ll also have an interview next month) to find an excerpt from The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kigndom. This snippet reveals some of the backstory between our Cinderella and, Frederic, her Prince Charming. It’s accompanied by more lovely art by Todd Harris.

Today, the fantastic blog, There’s A Book, is playing host to a quartet of new Hero’s Guide illustrations by the awesome Todd Harris. There’s also an excerpt that will give you a sneak peek at Snow White’s dwarf friends. Plus, blogger Danielle Smith has some very nice things to say about the book. Check it out.

The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom got a starred review from Kirkus, which says that the book’s “fairy-tale world is tongue-in-cheek but fleshed out, creating its own humor rather than relying on pop-culture references.” They go on to add that, “in this debut, Healy juggles with pitch-perfect accuracy, rendering the princes as goobers with good hearts and individual strengths, keeping them distinct and believable.” According to Kirkus, Hero’s Guide is, “inventive and hilarious, with laugh-out-loud moments on every page.”

The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom got some first-line love today from Publisher’s Weekly. Elizabeth Bluemle selected the opening two sentences of Hero’s Guide as one of this year’s “Great Beginnings” in her latest post on the Shelf Talker blog. Now I just have to hope she enjoyed things from the third sentence on. (*fingers crossed*)

Yes, The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom doesn’t come out until May 1st, but library folk looking for an early signed copy can find me at the HarperCollins booth at the Public Library Association Conference at 3:30 on March 14th. The conference will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Hey, look at you, scrolling all the way down to the bottom! Good for you! Congratulations on being so thorough!
